Mark Scott Spatny
Visual Effects Supervisor and Photographer
Mark Spatny is a five time Emmy nominee and two time winner. Most recently he has worked as a Visual Effects Supervisor on Amazon's The Peripheral, Paramount's Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, ABC's Station 19, and FOX's Lethal Weapon. Other recent productions include the FOX television series Gracepoint and Touch, as well as such iconic series as the BBC's Doctor Who and the original Heroes. A graduate of the University of Southern California, he has worked in computer graphics for over 20 years, on more than 400 episodes of television and 20 feature films.
Outside of work, Mark has been a tireless advocate for the VFX industry. He has been elected four times to the board of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and served on the Academy's Engineering Awards, Membership, Activities, Governor's Award, and Bylaws committees. He also helped create the Visual Effects Society Awards serving for thee years as its Co-Chair. He has lectured on television effects production for the DGA, SIGGRAPH, the University of Southern California, the San Diego Comic Con, and in London for the BBC Children's Festival
Mark also serves his community by volunteering with the American Red Cross and the LA County Sheriff's CERT program. He has managed evacuation shelters during several wildfire incidents, including Southern California's 160,000 acre Station Fire.
